Welcome Military Families!

The San Ysidro School District is proud to support military-connected families and all those actively serving in the greater San Diego area. We recognize the unique challenges that come with active military service and are committed to providing your family with the resources and support necessary for success during your service. Our Purple Star-designated schools, Vista Del Mar Middle School and Ocean View Hills, serve students from Transitional Kindergarten through Grade 8. Please feel free to contact your military family Liaison or school administrator if there is anything else we can do to assist you.

We are pleased to offer additional support to our students from military families through our Military and Family Life Counselor, Ms. Nancy Martinez. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, she has been a valued member of the Vista Del Mar (VDM) school community since last year.

Ms. Martinez is available to assist with various topics, including:

  • Bullying
  • Self-esteem
  • Separation from parents
  • Problem-solving
  • Time management
  • Deployment and reunification
  • Divorce

For more information, please refer to the attached flyers or contact Ms. Martinez at nancy.martinez@sysdschools.org.

Thank you for your service, and welcome to the San Ysidro School District
